Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information GetJob Canada collects, why, how we protect it, and the choices you have. It applies to candidates, employer contacts, and visitors to getjobcanada.com.

Last updated: September 2026. This is a working draft for review by your legal adviser before publication.

1. Who we are

GetJob Canada ("we", "us") is a recruitment consultancy based in Canada. Our contact details are on the contact page. We are the organization responsible for the personal information described in this policy, and we comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation, including Québec's Law 25 where it applies.

2. What we collect

Candidates

  • Identity and contact details: name, email, phone, city and province, LinkedIn profile.
  • Career information: CV or résumé, employment history, education, certifications, skills, salary expectations, work authorization status, and notes from our conversations with you.
  • Application information for specific roles, interview feedback, and references you authorize us to contact.

Employer contacts

  • Name, job title, organization, work email and phone, and details of vacancies you brief to us.

Website visitors

  • Information you submit through our forms, and limited technical data (such as pages visited and device type) if analytics are enabled. We do not use advertising trackers.

3. Why we collect it

  • To assess your suitability for roles and represent you to employers, with your permission.
  • To fulfil recruitment services for employers, including sourcing, screening, and shortlisting candidates.
  • To communicate with you about roles, vacancies, and our services.
  • To meet legal obligations, including recruiter licensing requirements and record-keeping.
  • To operate and improve our website.

4. Consent

We collect personal information with your knowledge and consent. When you submit a CV, vacancy, or enquiry, you consent to us using that information for the purposes above. We do not share a candidate's profile with an employer without the candidate's explicit agreement for that specific opportunity. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.

5. Sharing

We share candidate information only with employers you have agreed to be introduced to, and with service providers that help us operate (for example, our CRM, email, and secure file storage), all of whom are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations. We do not sell personal information. Some service providers may store data outside Canada; where that is the case we take contractual and technical steps to protect it.

6. Retention

We keep candidate information for as long as it is reasonably needed to represent you for current and future roles, and to meet legal obligations. If you have not been in contact with us for 24 months, we will contact you to confirm whether you wish to remain registered, and delete your information if we do not hear back. Employer records are kept for the duration of the relationship and as required by law.

7. Security

We protect personal information with access controls, encryption in transit and at rest where supported by our systems, staff training, and confidentiality obligations. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required.

8. Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, withdraw consent, or ask questions about this policy by contacting us at john@getjobcanada.com. We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial privacy regulator.

9. Cookies

This website uses only strictly necessary cookies and, if enabled, privacy-respecting analytics. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
