Practice · Healthcare supply chain

Recruiting the people who make sure the right product is on the shelf when the patient needs it.

From a materials coordinator on a hospital loading dock to a director negotiating a provincial contract, healthcare supply chain is a specialist market with its own rules, systems, and pressures. It is where GetJob Canada started, and it is still our largest practice.

The market

Why this practice needs specialists

Healthcare supply chain in Canada sits between public procurement law, clinical practice, and commercial logistics. A sourcing specialist at a shared services organization has to run competitive processes under Broader Public Sector directives and trade agreement thresholds while keeping clinicians on side through product standardization. A distributor's logistics lead has to manage lot traceability, cold chain, Health Canada establishment licensing, and recalls without a single missed delivery.

Generalist recruiters struggle to tell these roles apart. Our consultants have either worked in them or spent years recruiting exclusively for them, so we can assess a candidate's real depth in a 30-minute interview and describe your role to the market in language that resonates.

What we assess

How we interview supply chain candidates

Procurement rules and process

Understanding of competitive bidding thresholds, vendor-of-record arrangements, contract law basics, and how to run a defensible evaluation with clinicians involved.

Systems fluency

Real, hands-on depth in the ERP and planning tools the role uses, from item master governance to par-level optimization and reporting.

Clinical and regulatory context

Comfort with product classifications, lot and expiry control, recalls, cold chain, and the difference between a stockout on a ward and one in a warehouse.

Commercial judgement

Negotiation record, savings methodology, and the ability to explain total cost of ownership rather than unit price.

Stakeholder management

Evidence of working with clinicians, finance, IT, and suppliers, and of holding the line diplomatically when standardization is unpopular.

Designations and development

SCMP, CSCP, CPIM, CPSM, or PMP where relevant, and a clear picture of what the candidate wants to learn next.
